By Airplane

The nearest air terminal is Lamezia Terme airport, also called Sant'Eufemia. From this airport it takes approximately one hour to reach Rende. By taxi it costs approx. 50 Euro. By train or bus approx. 5 Euro.

 
*We have arranged for two buses to take New Phytologist Symposium delegates from Lamezia airport to Rende on Monday 13th May. These will depart the airport at 2pm and 10pm and will be free of charge for symposium delegates. Please meet in the square outside the airport and look for a symposium sign indicating the bus.*

 

  • From the Lamezia-Terme (SUF) S. Eufemia airport take the “Shuttle Service” (see timetable here) to the Lamezia-Terme rail station
  • Then catch the train to Castiglione Cosentino rail station (see timetable below)
  • Then walk (or take bus) to the hotel or venue (see map)

 

If you fly into Napoli (NAP) airport.

 

  • From the Napoli (NAP) Capodichino airport take the “Alibus” service (see timetable below) to the “Stazione central-piazza Garibaldi” rail station
  • Then catch the train to Castiglione Cosentino rail station (see train schedules below)
  • Then walk (or take bus) to the hotel or venue (see map)

 

If you fly into Rome (FCO) Fiumicino airport.

 

  • From the Rome (FCO) Fiumicino airport take the “Leonardo express” service (see timetable below) to the “Roma Termini” rail station
  • Then catch the train to Castiglione Cosentino rail station (see train schedules below)
  • Then walk (or take bus) to the hotel or venue (see map)

 

By train

 

The railway station in Castiglione Cosentino (the nearest railway station to the University campus) is well connected to the main train station in Paola (18 min.) which, in turn, is connected to Rome and Naples by inter-city and Eurostar trains. Some inter-city trains are also connecting Rome to Castiglione Cosentino directly, without the need of changing train in Paola (see train schedules below).

By Car

 

The most important road connection to Rende-Cosenza is the“A-3” motorway (Salerno - Reggio Calabria). The university area is located less than 1 Km away from the “Cosenza Nord-Rende” (Salerno - Reggio Calabria) exit. Exiting the motorway, take the road for "Paola" and follow the road indications for the "Università".
