Biography
Ravi is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at IISER Mohali. He pursued his Ph.D. at IISER Pune, India, where he studied the mechanisms of sex determination in ivy gourd. He then moved to the INRAEāInstitute of Plant Sciences, Paris-Saclay, France, for postdoctoral research, where he investigated sex determination and fruit shape in melon and cucumber, as well as fruit set in tomato.
His current research focuses on identifying key regulators of sex determination in underexplored cucurbit crops. By enabling traits such as gynoecy and parthenocarpy, his work aims to improve yields, strengthen hybrid seed production, and contribute to food security.
