Biography
I am a National Postdoctoral Fellow (ANRF-NPDF) working in Prof. Anjan Banerjee’s group at IISER Pune. My research lies at the intersection of plant molecular biology and functional genomics, with a focus on stress-responsive regulatory mechanisms in early land plants. I integrate molecular cloning with high-throughput sequencing approaches, including RNA-seq and ATAC-seq, to investigate transcriptional and chromatin-level regulation underlying abiotic stress adaptation. I am particularly interested in hormone signalling pathways, especially abscisic acid (ABA), and their evolutionary conservation across bryophytes and angiosperms.
My current work focuses on the identification and molecular characterization of stress-induced mechanosensitive ion channels and their role in driving transcriptional reprogramming in the moss Physcomitrium patens. More broadly, my research aims to elucidate how early land plants integrate environmental signals at the molecular level, contributing to our understanding of plant adaptation and evolution.
