Biography
Dr. Alok Krishna Sinha is Staff Scientist VII at the BRIC–National Institute of Plant Genome Research (NIPGR), New Delhi, India. After completing his PhD in Plant Biology he pursued postdoctoral research in Germany as an Alexander von Humboldt Fellow before joining NIPGR in 2003. His research focuses on plant cell signaling, particularly MAP kinase (MAPK) networks that integrate environmental and developmental cues to regulate growth, stress adaptation, and crop productivity. His laboratory has made significant contributions to understanding MAPK functions in submergence tolerance, light signaling, cell-cycle regulation, miRNA biogenesis, thermomorphogenesis, and photosynthetic regulation in rice and Arabidopsis. He is an elected Fellow of the Indian National Science Academy (INSA), the Indian Academy of Sciences (IAS), and the National Academy of Sciences, India (NASI), and is committed to translating fundamental discoveries into strategies for developing climate-resilient crops.
