Apply for the New Phytologist Tansley Medal
Applications for the 2027 New Phytologist Tansley Medal are now open!
Deadline: 1 November 2026.
The New Phytologist Tansley Medal is awarded annually in recognition of an outstanding contribution to research in plant science by an individual with three to five years’ experience since gaining / defending their PhD.
Shortlisted candidates are invited to author a Tansley insight review for publication in New Phytologist and the winner(s) receives a prize of £2,000 (GBP).

New Phytologist is proud to present Stomata, a new Virtual Issue edited by Sarah M. Assmann, Juan Dong, Julie E. Gray, Hanna Hõrak, Yun-Kuan Liang, Chun-Peng Song, Shuhua Yang, and Alistair M. Hetherington.
This collection covers much of contemporary research on stomata that not only addresses fundamental questions on stomatal evolution, development and function, and hence their role in key plant processes, but also the potential for translational research to improve crop performance and resilience to climate change.
