Biography

Dr. Xiaojuan Liu is a full professor in the Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences. She obtained her BSc from Beijing Forestry University and her PhD in Ecology from the Chinese Academy of Sciences. She then pursued postdoctoral work at University of Zurich.

She is the executive director of Qian-jiang-yuan Forest Biodiversity National Station, the leader of the management group of forest biodiversity experiment BEF-China, outstanding member of the Youth Innovation Promotion Association of Chinese Academy of Sciences. She currently serves as the senior editor of Journal of Plant Ecology, and associate editor of Journal of Ecology.

Her work focuses on biodiversity and ecosystem functioning in the forest ecosystem. She is particularly interested in understanding the mechanisms of biodiversity maintenance and biodiversity and ecosystem functioning at the temporal and spatial scale. She is committed to advancing the efforts for biodiversity conservation and forest restoration.
