Biography
Kevin Hultine is the Director of Research in the Department of Research, Conservation and Collections at the Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix, AZ. He also holds adjunct faculty appointments in the School of Life Sciences at Arizona State University and the School of Earth and Sustainability at Northern Arizona University. He is recognized as a global leader in research on dryland plants and ecosystems with over 25 years of experience studying plant ecophysiological traits that underlie adaptation to heat waves, drought and other stressors. His research revolves around studying how plants cope with environmental stress in desert, tropical and temperate ecosystems (including those in urban, riparian and upland areas). His team applies novel approaches to identify the thermal limits of plant life across diverse environments. Results from his team’s work is leading to solutions for restoring and conserving dryland forests, plant communities, and sensitive species threatened by global environmental change.
