Biography
Cristina C. Bastias is currently an assistant professor in the Ecology Area at the University of Córdoba. Her research focuses on the mechanisms that sustain ecosystem multifunctionality and biodiversity in forest and urban ecosystems under global change scenarios. She integrates concepts and hypotheses from plant functional ecology, evolutionary ecology, and related fields, and works across biological scales—from species to communities—to elucidate complex ecological processes, including the ecophysiological responses and adaptations of plants to environmental stressors such as drought, heat, nutrient depletion, and competition; community assembly dynamics (e.g., forest regeneration); and the assessment and integration of ecosystem functions and services across Mediterranean and semi-arid forests and urban environments.
