Biography
Dr. Colleen Doherty is a Professor of Molecular and Structural Biochemistry at North Carolina State University. Her research explores how plants use time, including daily rhythms, temperature cues, and seasonal signals, to sense and respond to their environment. Her laboratory also investigates how the remarkable biochemical capabilities of plants can be harnessed to address technological and societal challenges, including environmental remediation and sustainable resource utilization. By integrating plant physiology, genomics, imaging, and analytical chemistry, her work connects fundamental discoveries in plant biology to real-world applications in agriculture, energy, and emerging technologies.
