Biography

Ashutosh is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences and Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar. His research focuses on understanding the molecular basis of circadian rhythms using computational, mathematical, and systems biology approaches. A major theme of his work involves the mathematical modeling of plant circadian systems using ordinary differential equations (ODEs), with an emphasis on developing predictive models that can capture circadian behaviour under natural field conditions.

In parallel, his group investigates the structure, dynamics, and interactions of protein complexes involved in circadian regulation, integrating computational modelling and molecular dynamics with experimental approaches. The broader goal of his research is to uncover the mechanistic principles governing biological timekeeping and its modulation.

Before establishing his research group, Ashutosh was a postdoctoral fellow at the Institute for Transformative Bio-Molecules (ITbM), Nagoya University, where he worked closely with Tsuyoshi Hirota’s group. There, he applied computational approaches to investigate the dynamic basis of small-molecule binding and selectivity in circadian modulation. He completed his PhD in computational biology from CSIR- Center for Cellular and Molecular Biology, India, during which he employed graph-theoretical methods to study protein structure and organization.
