Biography
Andrea Polle has been serving as Professor of Forest Botany and Tree Physiology at Georg-August University of Göttingen since 1996. Her primary research interests lie in the molecular ecophysiology of stress adaptation in trees and tree-biotic interactions under globally changing environmental conditions, with a particular focus on tree-mycorrhizal associations. Her laboratory employs molecular techniques and stable isotopes to investigate the functional diversity of ectomycorrhizal fungi.
Andrea Polle is a leading figure in plant science. She has authored more than 350 peer-reviewed scientific publications, which have been cited over 40,000 times. She is a member of the Lower Saxony Academy of Sciences, where she served as Vice-President from 2020 to 2023. She has also been actively involved in numerous national and international scientific advisory boards.
