Biography

Alex Webb investigates plant chronobiology exploring how 24-hour biological clocks allow plants to anticipate environmental cycles and optimize cellular biology. They have made discoveries concerning the role of calcium ions in circadian clocks, the regulation of circadian clocks by metabolism and how circadian clocks contribute to plant success. More recently they have been investigating how circadian clocks can be used to improve agriculture through the practice of "chronoculture".
