Registration, refund, cancellation policy

Refunds will be made for cancellations received in writing (via email/fax) 28 days prior to the meeting start date. No refunds (partial or full) can be granted after this date. Requests for substitutions should be sent to the symposium administration and will normally be granted depending on space.

Registration Options

Who is this meeting for?

New Phytologist next generation scientists is a meeting organised by, and for, early career researchers. We welcome applications from:

  • Undergraduate or Masters students.
  • PhD students.
  • Individuals with up to five years' experience after gaining their PhD. Career breaks don't count towards this five year total.

 

How much does it cost?

Registration is free and includes accommodation, meals, and social events. Some assistance with travel costs will also be available. We ask for a £25 refundable deposit to secure your place.

 

I gained my PhD more than five years ago. Can I still attend?

We have a very limited number of places for individuals who have more than five years' post-PhD experience to attend the meeting in a mentoring capacity. Please contact us for more information.

Note that you do not need to pay the £25 fee at this stage.

 

The registration process will consist of the following steps:

 

  1. Register using the form on this page
  2. Submit your poster abstract by 29 April 2019
  3. Applicants are judged on the quality of their complete submission
  4. Successful applicants will be notified by 13 May 2019
  5. Successful applicants will then need to pay a £25 admin fee to secure their registration. 

 

You will need to upload the following:

  • A 200 word (max) supporting statement indicating your position, reasons for wishing to attend, and how you hope the meeting will enhance your career / research. Below your 200 word statement, please list your publication history, presentations given, and awards.

  • A reference letter from a scientist who has agreed to act as a referee for your application (usually your supervisor). If it is not possible to upload this at the time of your registration, applicants or referees should email this to np-symposia@lancaster.ac.uk before the application deadline. 

  • All applicants are also required to submit a poster abstract. This should be submitted after registering for the meeting but before the deadline: 29th April 2019

 

Deadline for applications is Monday 29th April 2019. You will receive an email by Monday 13th May 2019 informing you whether or not your application has been successful and if you have been chosen to give a 20 minute oral presentation of your work (15 minutes presentation; 5 minutes for questions).

 

We are able to fully fund this event and successful applicants will receive a full registration including: access to all sessions, tea and coffee breaks, lunches, a poster reception with drinks and snacks, and three nights’ accommodation. Some assistance with travel costs will also be available to sucessful delegates.
