The New Phytologist Trust is a not-for-profit organization that is dedicated to the promotion of plant science. Whilst the primary role of the Trust is to ensure the successful publication of the journal New Phytologist, it ensures that any excess revenue from the journal is put straight back into the subject of plant science, funding projects from symposia to open access for our Tansley reviews.

The following grants and awards are available:

New Phytologist Tansley Medal
For excellence in plant science

The New Phytologist Medal will be awarded annually in recognition of an outstanding contribution to research in plant science by an individual in the early stages of their career. The winner will receive a prize of £2000 and the successful article will be published in New Phytologist, which will be accompanied by a comment from the Editor-in-Chief. Applications should be received by 15 June 2009. Further details are attached here

New Phytologist Symposia

The New Phytologist Trust organizes small, focussed meetings in which we aim to provide an informal atmosphere for the stimulation and exchange of ideas and the building of collaborations. Usually these meetings would be expected to extend over one to three days, with invited speakers and a maximum of 80–100 delegates. If you are interested in organizing a future New Phytologist Symposium please contact Central Office outlining the area of research, scope of the meeting and proposed venue in a brief summary (no more than 500 words). Please provide a list of potential invited speakers and indicate your full contact details.

You are welcome to contact Central Office with any preliminary enquiries.

New Phytologist Innovation Grants

The New Phytologist Trust provides small grants to assist innovation and advancement in plant science. In particular, a limited number of grants are available to sponsor focus groups, where up to five experts are brought together to focus on and brainstorm a particular subject area that requires attention. This might be, for example, a field where there are differing views and opinion. The aim of the focus group would be to rationalise the current status of research, work out ways forward and to produce balanced review(s) or forum article(s) for the journal New Phytologist, providing some clarity for the community.

Preliminary enquiries should be sent to Central Office

Please note that we do not provide travel grants to attend scientific conferences.

New Phytologist is an international electronic/print journal
